A LITTLE HISTORY ABOUT US:
NOVA UYFA was established for several reason. One, was to give all kids a healthy alternative to play football without being required to lose weight. There have been horror stories told that some kids have been asked to lose 10 to 30 pounds in a very short period of time just to play football in an age/weight only program. This should be unacceptable for any parent or child. It has been said by the experts in the medical field this act can cause a long term health risk. Second, was we believe that giving kids an opportunity to play regardless of their skills that they will grow in a healthy manner. Third, was to have them among their peers. Not having 16/17 year olds playing against 12/13 years olds.
NOVA UYFA FUTURE:
NOVA UYFA has been an in house league. Something we will no longer be. NOVA UYFA has now become a TRAVELING football club. Simply put, Our Clubs/Teams will travel to all games throughout the metropolitan region where the competition will be at a higher level. We are please to announce that we're joining a well respected league. (the Greater Metropolitan Youth Football League). While the competition will be stiffer, we are proud to announce we will be keeping our playing time minimum rule for those 14U and 12U.
THE 2012 SEASON INFORMATION:
Each club/team will have at minimum 6 to 8 NFC /AFC Regular Season Games. Most games will be on Saturday, however, there may be some Sundays too. Any club/team may qualify for any of the following if hey advance. The NFC /AFC Playoff Game, NFC / AFC Championship Game, Mid-Atlantic Metro- Bowl Championships, State Championship and finally to the AAU National Championship in Florida. So that you are aware of this. For the AAU National Championship, there will be additional charge. This is something that is not part of the registration fee. There may be a small gate fee for the fans who wish to come out to the Mid-Atlantic Metro-Bowl Champions and State Championship.
Just for this season NOVA UYFA will not be hosting any games in the Northern Virginia Area.
AGE & DIVISION LEVEL:
(Tentative age cut off is as of August 1st, this may be subject to change)
North Side (Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria) will attempt to create a
(11 to 12) 12U, (13 to 14) 14U and (15 to 16)16U.
South Side (Prince William County, if you live in this county visit the site at www.pwcnovayf.org)
(13 to 14) 14U and (15 to 16) 16U
VOLUNTEERS WANTED:
This is a non-profit organization (501c3). This does not mean that the program cannot have what some would call a war chest fund. However, this is not to be confuse with any being paid. All of us who are involve with the program are strictly volunteers from top to bottom without pay.
To make this a great experience for all. We will need the help of many more volunteers. We will be in need of at least one parent on each team to step up and be a "playing time spotter". This is where the parent will keep tab of the opponents players playing time at a game. Any team who qualify and wish to make the trip to the National, must have a team parent(s) step up and help raise/collect money for the teams trip etc... The Coaches will not lead the task. These are just a few positionsd at this time.
